Inclusive Excellence in Outreach
We believe Duke BME’s commitment to community and inclusivity should go beyond the walls of our university. We aim to expose young students in the Durham area to STEM concepts and projects, and to establish productive and beneficial relationships between local Durham schools and Duke.
Duke Research in Engineering Program
DukeREP is a seven-week summer program for high school students with an interest in science and engineering. The program, hosted on Duke’s campus by Duke BME, introduces students from different backgrounds to scientific research in hopes of inspiring them to pursue STEM careers.
Outreach Design Education
A set of immersive programs that expose students to engineering design and STEM. ODE hosts a Design Hackathon for middle school students, a Summer Design Camp for high schoolers and professional development experiences for teachers. All programs are free, with meals provided.
