Professor Michael Peshkin

Title: Teaching in a Pandemic Location: Virtual Seminar Address: https://duke.zoom.us/j/9088262425 Remote teaching has obliged us to rethink education. I'll describe some pandemic-ready innovations I've made: the Light board for recording video lecture segments. My lab-in-a-backpack for teaching electronics. And a mirror hack that redirects a student's laptop webcam to create a document camera for sharing their work, live. These are fun; the loss of community and engagement and hands-on learning opportunities are not so fun. We'll also talk about trying to build community over zoom, engaging ways to use the technology, and ideas for hybrid remote+classroom) teaching. Special offer : sign up now at bit.ly/sendhack and we will mail you a doc cam hack kit in advance! (sample for you; it's really intended for your students.)
