The guiding mission of the BME Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Community (DEIC) Committee is to create a sense of belonging and empowerment for those who are under-represented in and/or historically excluded from biomedical engineering, be it on the basis of race, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, citizenship status, or affiliation within the department.
Duke BME is dedicated to incorporating diversity, equity and inclusivity and community into all aspects of the department, with a specific focus on incorporating this work into our curriculum, outreach programs and research pursuits.
